wow the spam signups are just non stop! And that is after I changed the captcha to be almost unreadable.

It's very easy to hire people in, oh, Mali or somewhere to do it for next to nothing, so the CAPTCHA thing is no longer effective.

This is a sudden burst, isn't it? Since Saturday. I wonder why.

FWIW, the wiki attracts a fair amount of spam because there's no registration on it and virtually all the spam I see there these days involves links back to sites like this one, i.e. discussion forums or other social networking sites. The spammers are dropping a payload in discussion threads or user profiles and then hitting sites like mine with links back to it. So far I haven't had to put Bread and Roses on my blacklist. So far.

Debra, this could just be me and my connection, but once or twice a day, when I click on a BnR topic, I get an error message. It goes away right away when I try again, but does that signify something?

I think it's just "page cannot be found" -- it's a big yellow page with a centre box ...

I ran a repair on the database but from reading around it seems like a current bug in the software. So we'll see how it goes.
