The thing is, John D, I think that fyrnova and 'lance and gunny were the only other adepts you had, and 'lance and gunny are AWOL.

So we know what that means, eh?

Holly - Snowballs in June are a mean feat, I appreciate it greatly.

Fern - You held and continue to hold the illustrious posts of Grand Vizier and Minister of Internal Security. Those jobs come with full pension, medical and dental benefits, five weeks paid vacation, and a parking spot right next to mine. Nothing [strike]but the vicissitudes of political expediency[/strike] at all would ever compel me to change your vital role in my government.

Fern and Croghan - Your loyalty in supplying cake has been duly noted, and your Emperor appreciates it greatly. I am considering creating some feudal titles for my more ambitious subjects, and you two have placed yourself in firm contention for a barony, perhaps even an earldom. Let me know if you have a perferred snooty name in mind.

The People's Revolutionary Commissar is taking careful notes about those who would prove themselves to be oppressors and enemies of the People.

Through their shoddy "garage sales" and "church bazaars".

Falsification: most people in Montréal who hold so-called garage sales don't even have a garage.

And what is this "church bazaar" - why no "mosque bazaar" or "synagogue bazaar"? And the secularists?

And as for those "sidewalk sales"? Sidewalks are a public good - who is attempting to sell them? Backhanded attempts at privatisation, and restoring the old regime of private lanes!

I think the idea is that the sale happens on a sidewalk. Compare the fire sale, which we all know is held inside a burning building, or the lateen sail which is, of course, always held admist large groups of teenagers.
