Peyton Place -- Holly mentioned Peyton Place. I used to be sent to bed when it came on but I was allowed to watch the opening credits. There was a gazebo in the shot and that so lovely but melancholic music.

Check this out! The score is there but the dialogue, "thoroughly modern housewife" is priceless:

I remember well in the early 50s watching the Honeymooners, Milton Berle, and other stuff, through the railings of our Ottawa house ...

  Boom Boom, why did your parents keep you inside a railed enclosure?

:rotfl:  Actually, I meant to say I watched through the stairway railings at the top floor of our Ottawa house - my parents thought I was asleep, but I snuck out of bed to watch the TV. The beginning of my life of crime. :spy:  :whis:

Actually my "life of crime" was a railing against the oppressors.

Onna my most fav tunes of all time there, Boom Boom ..... "last Saturday night I got married, me and the wife settled down, Now me and the wife are parted, Guess I'll take another walk downtown ..... " so simple, so sad  :(

and burned into my consciousness is Maggy Muggins signing off saying: "I don't know what will happen tomorrow." (after sayin bub bye to Mr. MacGarrity.)
"It is also a good rule not to put overmuch confidence in the observational results that are put forward until they are confirmed by theory." -- Arthur Stanley Eddington
