Goldwater poisons Canada Reads

Dr Dawg has a great blogpost about the reprehensible Anne-France Goldwater, who called writer Carmen Aguirre a "terrorist" and extended this slur to Nelson Mandela:

Dawg claims:

"No doubt she would include elderly members of the French Resistance. In fact, given her politics, I’m sure she would".

(lagatta sez, I believe Goldwater is of Jewish origin, so I'm not so sure - she might have given them a pass, in particular if they were Gaullists).

She herself is married to a person described as a “refugee from El Salvador,” one Leonel Zelaya-Perez. Back in those days, there really were only two sides in that country: those who fought the tyranny of the government, the coffee-growing “50 families” and the paramilitary death squads—and those who didn’t.

Given her open support of Chile’s Augusto Pinochet, I think we can surmise which side hubby was on. Perhaps she comes by her support of Latin American fascism honestly".

And the CBC, as Dawg says, certainly has a share of responsibility in this very ugly exhibition.

I think she is actually good on those issues of marriage equality. People can be funny that way.

I have a staunchly Catholic aunt who is just the opposite - not that she is anti lgbt as she is a very tolerant person, but "pro-life" (yecch), on the other hand her views on the situation in Latin American countries is the polar opposite of that contra !@#$%&+'s attitude.

Still looking for nasty words that aren't a sexual or sexist allusion, in lieu of "bitch" or "bastard" - and a good nasty substitute for "media-whore" that does not insult sex workers or compare them to mendacious toadies to the powers-that-be.
