The original Spacing site: spacing.ca explores Toronto's urban geography and related issues; recently a Montréal version has been launched: spacingmontreal.ca

Very much in the "out and about" ethos!

A Vancouver version called "re: place" is in the works as well -- contact the Vancouver Public Space Network for more information.

Which reminds me: the VPSN is putting on a workshop about housing and homelessness in Vancouver, specifically about the sticking points that get in the way of substantive progress. It's on Tuesday, November 13 at the Vancouver Public Library's downtown branch, between 7 and 9 pm. Presentations by a series of speakers will be followed by breaking into smaller groups to come up with ways around the sticking points, with the workshop's conclusions being submitted to the various levels of government.

Please report on any follow-up on this, as I'm very interested both from a housing-activist and urbanist viewpoint.  As you know, Vancouver is often presented as a model, but despite interesting town planning initiatives, it is still very far from solving the problem of affordable urban housing - not just for homeless people but also for workers who don't make lots of $$$$.
