This is Eric Margolis's last column for the Toronto Sun.

As usual, there are a couple of claims there I would differ with, but I love the man's spirit and grasp of principle and commitment to liberty.

And of course this is being done to him by the squidgy little bastards who smirk at all those things.

Pirate Party Strikes Hosting Deal With Wikileaks
Quote
During his visit to the the Swedish capital Stockholm, Wikileaks spokesman Julian Assange struck a deal with the local Pirate Party. The Party, which participates in the national elections next month, will host several new Wikileaks servers to protect the freedom of the press and help the whistleblower site to carry out its operation.

WikiLeaks says Pentagon offers Afghan files help
Quote
WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange said Wednesday the Pentagon has expressed willingness to discuss the online whistleblower's request for help in reviewing classified documents from the Afghan war and removing information that could harm civilians.

The Pentagon denied any direct contacts with WikiLeaks.

"This week we received contact through our lawyers that the general counsel" of the Pentagon "says now that they want to discuss the issue," Assange told The Associated Press by telephone.

Of course they want to discuss things with WL. The WL guys must know, though, what the Pentagon version of discussion means. That never bode well.

I hope Assange is just playing with them. Well, he's smarter than I am. Publish and be damned, as we always used to say.

Thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of people had access to these files before WL got them. Nothing was redacted in them then. If anyone has been irresponsible about the identities of informants named in those documents, it is the U.S. military. They learned nothing from Viet Nam; they are still incompetent and sloppy, and their professed concern for their allies in Afghanistan is all bluster and cover.

Hee, before that letter went out Alison, This went out to the Air Force a week before.

As if those peeps won't check it out at home. Unless of course they...can't...even do that.  :o

Air Force personnel should not access the WikiLeaks website to view or   download the publicized classified information. Doing so would introduce   potentially classified information on unclassified networks. There has   been rumor that the information is no longer classified since it resides   in the public domain. This is NOT true.

A bit late innit?

Wikileaks Lawyer Says Pentagon Given Access to Unpublished Secret Documents
Quote
A U.S. lawyer representing the whistleblowing website Wikileaks says U.S. government officials have been given codes and passwords granting them online access to official U.S. government documents that Wikileaks so far has not published.
Which contradicts the Pentagon's story.

Shocking.
It is when we all play safe that we create a world of utmost insecurity. It is when we all play safe that fatality will lead us to our doom. It is in the "dark shade of courage" alone that the spell can be broken.

Good God. Two Swedish women are accusing Assange of rape. (That came up on #Wikileaks when I went to visit.)

Like we believe that one, eh?

That is the first headline I saw this AM when I ignited the coal under my machine.

Is it not amazing that those that oppose Putin  America in any way shape or form are also guilty of such monstrous moral transgressions that any good they may have done is blotted out. (Noriega trafficked in drugs: Saddam built palaces: and the Taliban, despite using a clever marketing ploy of stopping all drug sales when in power, sold poppy resin.)

Yes, these charges should be investigated impartially - I am glad it is Sweden doing it, not the mess the USA has made of its' legal system.

It is also a great way for the US to finally track down and (possibly) neutralize what it sees as an opponent. (Something that so far 'all the King's horses and all the King's men' could not do.)
"It is also a good rule not to put overmuch confidence in the observational results that are put forward until they are confirmed by theory." -- Arthur Stanley Eddington

Well, given that there actually is a Pentagon doc about how to neutralize WikiLeaks that WL itself leaked, I would say that the coming of this campaign has been foretold to us.
