At least three Canadian companies are set to watch potentially damaging documents released online to the world, part of the latest dump of secret files obtained by the whistleblower website WikiLeaks.
The website lists three Canadian companies it claims are part of a global industry that helps governments spy on citizens through Internet monitoring and one through phone monitoring.

Wow, I had heard the downloadable files were huge. Occupy itself is also trying to prep for spring by letting folks know just how many journos CIA trains to give out the propaganda stories re: regime change/wars. One of the first vids goes back to the 1960/70's where it was admitted, I think the CIA was dragged up in front of a Committee.
Looks like Occupy has been busy with some other orgs as well. Wikileaks and Anon.

Here it is:

Quote
LONDON—Today, Monday 27 February, WikiLeaks began publishing The Global Intelligence Files – more than five million emails from the Texas-headquartered "global intelligence" company Stratfor. The emails date from between July 2004 and late December 2011. They reveal the inner workings of a company that fronts as an intelligence publisher, but provides confidential intelligence services to large corporations, such as Bhopal’s Dow Chemical Co., Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon and government agencies, including the US Department of Homeland Security, the US Marines and the US Defense Intelligence Agency. The emails show Stratfor’s web of informers, pay-off structure, payment-laundering techniques and psychological methods, for example:...

Yes Men says they were spied on about the 25th anniversary of the Bhopal disaster:

Oh, how nice. An international private spy company based in Texas - Stratfor. Paid for secretly by corporations and government agencies. Harper surely must be well aware of Stratfor. Hmm.   :popcorn

Interesting:

There are more than 4,000 emails mentioning WikiLeaks or Julian Assange.

I like the looks of this, since I never have and never will join Facebook.

Collaboration between Wikileaks and Anonymous, sounds like it was likely eventually, I have no idea why some are saying the opposite. But check this out, George Friedman resigning from Stratfor? Why, they knew this was coming in January.

Assange has a 3 minute video statement on the release of the Stratfor emails. http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2012/feb/27/wikileaks-stratfor-emails-anonymous

He calls Stratfor "a private intelligence Enron". Its unregulated private investment sector "makes News of The World look like kindergarten".   :popcorn

Assange loses extradition case -  http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/blog/2012/may/30/julian-assange-extradition-verdict-live-coverage

His lawyer has won him 2 weeks for her to do 2 things - My colleague Owen Bowcott reports that Assange's lawyers can begin appealing against the judgment to the European court of human rights at the same time as requesting the supreme court reopen the case.
Apparently getting 2 weeks to try and re-open the case based on something that wasn't argued, was unexpected. Hilary Clinton is set to visit Sweden, probably carrying the extradition papers with her to deliver to the Swedish gob

Toe, your link doesn't work - chop off the front part of it.

I don't know whether Britain can secure a pledge from Sweden not to extradite to the US, due to the death penalty there.

Re: the extradition I found this:

Sweden is bound by different extradition agreements. It is not meant to grant onwards extradition to a third country without agreement from the extraditing country. But at the same level of the legal hierarchy there is a bilateral treaty between the US and Sweden that allows for extradition without consent from the UK or minimum tests. This is the temporary surrender/conditional release regime - automatic extradition on a loan basis. It is highly likely that the United States will soon request Julian Assange’s extradition from Sweden and this mechanism will be used while Julian Assange is in Swedish custody.

For those not on FB

"Should the UN govern the internet?" That is today's CBC headline for the article. Truly one of the most moronic headlines they've ever put out. In a global media world full of truly idiotic suggestive headlines this one is near the top. So let's skip it and go straight to Assange's interview with Erin Burnett; now that's a guy who knows how to get his talking points out!
