We all pretty much know that Stéphane Dion's leadership of the Libs is probably not long for this world---I mean, months ago you could here the hissing noise of knife-sharpening.  

I am betting the next leader will be Iggy.

I read somewhere yesterday that every Liberal leader has become PM. Poor Dion. What a way to go down in history.

Yuck. Iggy. But I suppose Canada is due for one of those oily Blair/Clinton types.

There is an expression in French: L'exception fait la règle.  

Stéphane Dion may be the exception though he is an exceptional person, unlike Stevie who is an ordinary and common bully boor.

That's rather stretching a point, though. John Turner became PM only because he became leader after Trudeau resigned, but before the next election. And of course après lui, le deluge.

I want Iggy, Rae and Cotler and the whole gang of social conservative Liberals to lose their seats to the NDP. After that, I want the LIBS, NDP and BP to retain and gain seats at the expense of the CONS. That's my dream scenario.

Frankly, I would prefer that Dion get a chance to prove that he can lead than see any of the cut throat neo-cons in his party replacing him. Neo-conservative leaders tend to attract more social conservatives than small "L" liberals. Hard not to see the future looking terribly bleak if we end up with two very right wing parties.
