"Happy Rockefeller" -- lol.

I had forgotten that conversation, Holly Stick. I should watch my Twitter spam more closely, and lately I have been thinking of it as just spam -- ie, commercially motivated, although an anti-smoking campaigner hit me the other day.

I'm not tweeting as much as I was b/c I'm just trying to watch the NA/ME revolutions going by me. Any time we have a WikiLeaks outburst though, the spammers reappear in their numbers, and that will happen again on Thursday, when the judge hands down his decision in Assange's case.

You can sometimes tell that you're looking at spam/a bot b/c their avatar is that blank egg, except that's not always true. Some ppl just don't put up avatars and have the egg instead -- one of my best Twitter friends is a woman in London who is a Good Egg, so.

Must read Happy Rockefeller over more carefully.

Well, I was looking for that AGW chatbot link, and found the spamming conversation first.

Incidently, for anyone who wants to tweet about climate change, here is a handy list of tweetable arguments:

My TweetDeck is completely frozen. I can't do anything, can't even close it. I did a full restart to make it go away, but when I opened TweetDeck again, there it was, in same condition.

At top it says "Your tweet stream is being throttled." Yeah? And then it says to click here to learn more, but I can't click with any effect since whole thing is frozen -- excuse me, throttled.

Well, it finally settled down enough to allow me to click, so I closed the search column for "Oscars," which I had been stupid enough to try to follow. TweetDeck says the problem should only last briefly before you can clear things, but that was over half an hour of immobilization. It's true that the Oscars tag is insane. I'm already seeing too much just on my own feed, and I tend to follow sensible people (except not tonight, obviously).

The LA Times is live blogging the Oscars on their front page if ya wanna get immediate up dates.

Did you resolve your problem?

I can't stand Tweetdeck. Makes my eyes explode.

I use the web, my (secret) lists, my searches (I am on Osfoora on the iPhone which allows infinite numbers of searches which get carried over to the web Twitter) all in different tabs in a browser window with facebook and B&R

Yes - it was the Oscars hashtag that was freezing me. Once I could close it, I was ok.

I guess the Oscars people were getting even with people who livetweet trials and such. And then there are the football tweeps on Sundays ...

Oh, PS: I've never even seen an iPhone, but I'm imagining it's quite small. How do you read from a teensy screen? I like TweetDeck b/c I can keep several columns open at once -- I can see my "mentions" and DMs come in right away instead of checking for them. I have a tendency to keep too much open, I guess -- by the end of the day, I've got tabs and windows and columns all over the place, and maybe that sometimes slows my puir auld compy.

I use the iPhone when on the go, in bed, in the kitchen, that kind of thing. You can make the text bigger. But I need glasses to read on the PC, so no big diff.

I find seeing your mentions and DM come in in actual time way too distracting.

Funny Twitter experiences: I let myself get trolled by a guy in the US Army spouting propaganda about GTMO. He started off moderately sane, but he has now run through !) our healthcare system kills ppl in waiting lines; 2) we are defence wusses; 3) I'm a moose-lover; 4) we are traitors. I think I'll quit while he's behind.

I tweeted something nice about Megan Leslie, and the NSNDP RTd me almost immediately. Try it and see; they pop right up.
