So should I drift this off to it's own thread or just leave it as evidence of our inability to stay on topic.

Thread drift ends HERE. (Bad fern!)

Honestly, I don't think the States can do that. While I don't doubt that they can and will detain non-whites whenever and wherever they can, I do not think the Bush government has enough power to make this an official law/policy.

I don't think so, either. But then, I didn't think they'd manage to pass a law legalizing torture, or removing the protection of habeas corpus. And yet they did.

Of course, the courts may strike that down as unconstutitional. But that may take years. At least one United States Senator actually voted for that bill knowing it to be unconstititional, and expecting that the courts will "clean it up".

They gave pairs of nylons and chewing gum to their 'girlfriends'?

Actually, yes.

She go out with them in the early evening because they had real food (steak etc) and the most recent films (like gone with the wind with bullets flying into the cinema as atlanta burns, nice touch she thought as she scrambled for cover) and gave nylons. Then she'd ditch them for the Brits, aussies or canucks who were more fun

The suspension of habeus corpus has happened at least 3 times in americas history (U.S. civil war-republican president, WWI, democrat, WWII democrat)

It's still appalling since we are not in a world war or a civil war Yet.
It makes me wonder about that huge fence the media shows every once in awhile. Is it to keep merkins In? You gotta wonder.

And that leads me to wonder about Martial Law being sneaked in. Well I don't know if it was sneaked, but I didn't know about it until I read Vive le Canada.

http://www.vivelecanada.ca/article.php/ ... 9214408202

That seems strange to me. Is it to avoid another Katrina? And if it is which state do you think would go rogue? I mean that's pretty heavy, martial law means the military can shoot to kill it's own citizens.

But what troubles me more is the criminal's plans to call up the reserves, but not tell the supposedly informed electorate until after the election.

http://www.informationclearinghouse.inf ... e15511.htm

Is this to go in and loot what is left of Iraq while the shaky, supposed democracy is still in place? Or to use Iraq as a new military platform for U.S. troops while strategising how to take it's neighbours.

So many questions. Depravity marches on in any case. And what's with the polls? Does it even matter what tomorrow's results are.

Well, Democratic control of the House would wrest control of finances from the Prez, and raise issues that the GOP would rather not discuss, such as raising the minimum wage, and better affordable health care. The Prez would get out his veto and start cancelling all Democratic proposals, and that would have consequences in the next election.

I knew of the Civil War and WWI cases, but as to WWII, the reference I read yesterday said that while the governor of Hawaii suspended habeas corpus there for a period after the Pearl Harbour attack, FDR didn't replicate this nationally. Will try to re-locate this and post it later.

LOL, this old thread title Nobody Gets in Nobody gets out, reminds me of Hotel California and of course the EU! Especially the EU, where they knock Greece with 'they should never have been allowed in', but nooes they can't leave.  Euro hysteria. LOL!

So what does that have to do with anything? at all. This divine graffiti found at the Kensington Palace during restoration - dated 1/2/1902 and reads: "Peter Jackson, The Champion Fucker". So notice the only F word is fucker right, leave it to English to have something to say about that.
Quote
Jo Thwaites, who is managing the refurbishment project at the palace, added: "Very neat handwriting. Look how nicely he's formed the F."

ROTF once again.  :))

sorry you may want the Telegraph link  :o  http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/8868245/Restoration-project-discovers-rude-graffiti-at-Kensington-Palace.html
