While Chicago synagogues may not have been the principal target of last week's foiled package bomb plot, U.S. officials now think that terrorists used addresses of Jewish organizations in an attempt to magnify the emotional aftereffects of the attack.

The name on one package was Reynald Krak, a 12th century crusader. The other was directed to Diego Deza, who headed the Spanish Inquisition of the late Middle Ages.

Well, if that's all true (and haven't we become the suspicious ones?), it certainly looks intentional.

It looks as though things in Yemen are suddenly moving fast. Saleh is hanging on, and officially he still has the military with him. But there have been waves of diplomatic resignations today, reportedly all the diplomats at the embassy in Ottawa, and maybe some generals. (I'm picking all this up from Twitter, so ... for what it's worth.)

If this happens, it could be very significant, tiny and odd though Yemen is. It is also a recent major playground for the US, and they cannot be happy to see this, as the Saudis also will not be.
