Oh Toe. I don't know nothing but I have been there and done that and I don't know how to say this but right now it sounds like poor Scarfie will not make it through the move.  :crying :hug

It is a very bad thing for a cat not to eat. This eye business sounds like what happened to my Ratso the Catso. Something happened in her brain. (I found her and had her 16 years.) Purring is not necessarily a good sign.

I hope you are okay.

Oh, Toe.  :hug I'm thinking of poor Scarfie and hoping he's not in pain.

I hope Scarf can warm himself in the sun. That is what Renzo is doing. Renzo has no disturbing symptoms as Scarf does, moreover I'm not moving anywhere soon unless something very strange happens, but he is peeing too much and has those odd moans from time to time (a little less now, as he loves the heat, and has been able to go out and explore the back gardens - the small yards of what would be three or four triplexes, with a high fence surrounding - a younger cat would easily escape from that - Renzo jumped on roofs of triplexes - but I don't think he has any interest in that now).

I don't think Renzo would survive a move now either. I don't think he is at death's door, but in its suburbs, and I am concerned about whether to accept an opportunity to take part in a women's seminar this summer, in Europe.

Radio silence. I'm very worried and have had Scarfie and Toe on my mind throughout the day.  :crying

I'm watching too and hoping for the best. I've been there as well and know how this feels.

Heart Congestion Grade 4 was diagnosed, along with kidney failure. Did you know cats of any age (up to 69%) can have cardiomyopathy and be asymptomatic for years? Scarf crossed the rainbow bridge this morning. A decision made between me and very non-judgemental doc over the phone. I said final bye to him yest. morning knowing this was the probable outcome. I took his toys over to Buster early this morning and as I suspected he went straight for the ridiculous carrot with green feathers, stuffed full of catnip. That was Scarf's favourite. Food/litter box/bio liners are going to a single mom with 4 kids who have 1 indoor cat. Thanks for the support, I really appreciate it.  :hug

I'm so very very sorry, Toe. It reminds me so much of the last time I went through this. I came home early from an event I had to attend just so I could sit with our dear kitty at the end. I think she had a very similar condition to what you describe. She knew I was there, for sure -- just as I know your Scarf knew you would do what was best for him.

Toe, I was also afraid that there was no longer any choice. Moreover, I know how hard this is as it is yet another in a series of terrible losses. Whether you believe literally in a Rainbow Bridge or see it as a metaphor for our remembrance that preserves and draws upon the lives of those we have loved, then you can be sure M and Oz are waiting for your lovely old scallywag of a tomcat.

I am so very, very sorry for your loss, Toe.  :hug

My Cat Puppy went into congestive heart failure at the age of 5, while under observation for what the vet thought was an unexplained fever. I'm relieved you found a vet to help you and Scarfie through this. Again, my condolences.

(I like what lagatta said - was thinking of M and Oz as well.)

Like I said on Facebook, you did the right thing. That last tweet sounded very bad to me. I am glad a kind vet supported you. I know how lonely those moments can be.
