[ETA] Pembina Institute criticizing article about pipeline report. Despite the headline "Pipeline report flawed," the Pembina Institute mostly criticizes the flaws in the Edmonton Journal article:

ETA: powerful testimony here, even just from reading the transcript:

Harper government cancels deal for ENGO funding of research on marine areas where oil tankers might go from Northern Gateway pipline. They were probably lobbied by Enbridge. More anti-science, ignore effects on the environment:

I predict that the robocalls investigations and these threads will smash head-on to each other sooner rather than later

slagging the reputation of decent people over the Internet is somehow privileged, the courts have ruled otherwise. RoTFL  still.

Keep talking you idiots.

First of all, I would never spill anything here.

Second, I *know* nothing.

What I do know is this: Many readers are connecting dots and digging deep. These include some very able people with all sorts of tools at their disposal. They are bombarding me with material and I am having trouble keeping everything straight, if at all.

My prediction is this: All roads lead to Mordor.

Well I can guess at some connections: the Harper Conservatives wanting to be in power as soon as possible to be able to profit from the tar sands while they can. The thing being that in future oil could become less essential and the oil companies holding the oil in the ground might find their assets to be worthless (I'm not too clear on this aspect; something Bill McKibben wrote).

So they cheat their way into a majority. Are the dirtiest races where the most important people got elected? Questions about Joe Oliver's win. I don't know how Julian Fantino fits in, but did he bankroll some other Conservative candidates? Who?

Cutting research in the north; to allow for quick development?

Republican connections. A US ex-Senator Moffett? saying Harper is supporting anti-Obama campaign?

Harper supporting Wildrose Party in Alberta, but it's not likely they will win; still he can probably deal with Alberta PCs.

But it's pretty general - must think some more.

This is disturbing:

Quote
...Last November, Allsop called the Prime Minister’s Office to voice his opposition to the proposed Northern Gateway pipeline.
He did not hear back from the prime minister but he says that within days, an RCMP officer was knocking on his door...[/l]
