Surveillance
« on: February 20, 2012, 10:58:35 AM »
And just as Toews'  internet surveillance Bill C-30 goes off to committee ...

UK government to demand access to all phone and internet user data
Quote
The British government is in the process of developing a schemewhereby all phone companies and broadband internet providers will be required to store customer transaction data for a year and hand it over to security services upon request.

while in the US the “Protecting Children From Internet Pornographers Act of 2011″ will require :
Quote
"all Internet service providers would need to store your IP address for at least 12 months, along with any highly sensitive personal information such as credit card data."

We have details re: Bill C-30 in various threads, but I am going to use this one Alison has created. I'm sure most of you have listened to Anonymous latest threat to Vic. (I love how A has now corrected the proper pronunciation of his name.) In any case for prosperity it is telling us Toews has committed a grievous 'incident', one of which we know nothing about yet. A says his x nor his x-lovers or peers are aware of this 'incident'.  A gives him a deadline of 7 days.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=4l7HhsDHsw4

P.S. For Lagatta who sometimes can't view youtube, pastebin - http://pastebin.com/DuDBsPmB

However, there is one incident, Mr. Toews, that the Canadian public would find particularly interesting.  It is an act that you concealed so well that it does not appear in the affidavits from your divorce.  In fact, we highly suspect neither your first wife, your former mistress, nor your political peers are aware of it.  This incident pertains not only to your personal life, but to the direct abuse of your political position.  Information about this incident has been submitted to us multiple times, independently, by both named and anonymous sources.

  •

  • Think very hard, Mr. Toews.  As we said previously, we have no doubt that there are many skeletons in your closet.  However, upon reflection, you should be able to determine which incident on the lengthy list of your illicit activities we are referring to.

  •

  • There is a very real possibility that after the revelation of this incident, Mr. Toews, that public outrage will not be necessary for you to find yourself without a job.  It is already widely known that you have engaged in criminal activity to further your political career, as you did in 1999, when you were convicted of violating Manitoba's Election Finances Act during a provincial election.

  •

  • Perhaps you are under the illusion that if you simply allow enough time to pass, the public will lose interest in the controversy over Bill C-30, allowing it to pass unprotested.  Perhaps you are under the impression that there is no scandal so great it cannot destroy your reputation and career.  Perhaps you are under the impression that we are bluffing.

  •

  • We are not bluffing, Mr. Toews.  You have seven days to reflect upon your personal and political crimes.  After that, the Canadian people will be made aware of just how disgustingly unscrupulous and corrupt you are.

  • Ottawa hits 'pause' on Bill C-30 and in the article I did not know this:
It would also give Ottawa the power to install its own equipment on Internet service provider networks, he says.
Section 64 of the legislation, he cautions, stipulates that in case Ottawa has overlooked some aspect of the law, it will have an additional, catch-all regulatory power it can use to spell out more authority “generally, for carrying out the purposes and provisions of this act.”
    That is just despicable!!
    http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/ottawa-hits-pause-on-web-surveillance-act/article2349818/

And a Sun article on how insidious surveillance is right now.

I wonder if the wee hummingbirds/bugs have an electric shock embedded inside, in case one happens to end up in the wrong hands?

Just to update this thread. Again I forgot to place the 2 latest vids here, sorry, but you know where they are. Meantime, the pause button on this Bill doesn't really work. Toews is pushing this hard. Open Media has asked we take the one minute to contact our own MP's to fight it. Please do so.

I'm thinking a day will come when we all abandon the internet en masse. If/when that day comes I really rilly hope it is synchronized, so we can also say a huge Fuck You to Bell and Rogers. Of course our kids who grew up with it won't do that and they are ineffective political activists right now, having to dance as fast as they can to build a decent paying with benefits life. Wonder how it's all going to work out.

P.S. Haven't been able to log in to CBC all day long. Wots up?

Oh look like we didn't know this already, the so-called democracies have obviously conspired together.

The government will be able to monitor the calls, emails, texts and website visits of everyone in the UK under new legislation set to be announced soon.

Before the summer Olympics? (one wonders if that event will even happen)  Fascism in the name of 'national security'.  :mad2

The Coalition government in Britain explicitly promised to end unnecessary data retention when they were campaigning. I bet Harper and Cameron had some cozy chats on such topics in recent months whenever they met at international conferences. I love the comments below the line on this article. The allowed use of "fuck" there is made use of liberally & creatively. Canadians are too nice sometimes. This person makes a good point (Kynismos):

Anyone installing a CCTV camera in my bedroom would likely die of boredom too, but there's no way in hell I'd allow them to do it.
The "If you've got nothing to hide, you've got nothing to fear" formulation is an error; the correct version should be "If you've got nothing to hide... no-one has any right to surveil you."

#Tell Davey Cameroon everything.
http://www.cbc.ca/news/yourcommunity/2012/04/uk-tell-dave-everything-protest-in-morning-trends.html

The protest meme is very similar to the #TellVicEverything hashtag that emerged after Public Safety Minister Vic Toews sponsored Bill C-30, known as the lawful access bill or "warrantless wiretap" bill.

BTW, Vic has been taken to H by ambulance from PHill (with they  think flu complications), he wants privacy.

Bwa-ha-ha-ha!

Some senior MPs in the Lib-Dems (other half of their Coalition) are opposing this. Nobody trusts them.
