Yes, I'm in SK.  And I cannot believe how we women are far left communists and dismissed because we dared to challenge a heartless, sexist pig on his poorly-researched work.  It's red-baiting at its finest, I'd say.

And this is a good reminder that the line, Liberal, Tory, same old story, still holds true.  Unfortunately, it also seems true that some NDP supporters aren't too far away from the Liberals and Tories.  None of the political partisans seem able to let go of that urge to backlash feminists.  

Wow!  The backlash is very real, isn't it?  And a goodly portion of it can be squarely placed on the shoulders of PMS.

News / RCMP apologizes for holding suspect naked

There was an incident in SK not that long ago where a woman who was going to the drunk tank was sexually assaulted by an RCMP officer in the parking garage.  I can't find it on google news, though...

I think the RCMP needs a total shakedown.

Sounds like an absolutely disgusting book and one that feminists should be aware of, so on that basis, I'm ok with vivelecanada posting it.  That said, I don't think I'll be running out to buy it any time soon!

Cause we're all in this together / Remembering 2006

2006 has been a year that has challenged me as poet, mother, and spouse, to name a few.  Early in the year I attended a two-week writing retreat that changed me in such a fundamental way that I am still reeling.  And that's not necessarily a bad thing.  

My writing life needed something.  Blogging has been a sweet way for me to voice my opinions. BnR has been an added bonus that came as a direct result of that.  Who was it that first got me here, anyway?  I owe her some big thanks!

My personal life needed and underwent some shifting over the past year.  Not in terms of splitting up, but in terms of re-evalutating and re-organizing, now that we have two teens in the house.  It's been a bit gruelling at times, but I think it's been worth it.

I think we are in a time of great change, a great turning is what one of my friends calls it.  It is, as far as I can see, an opportunity to do carry on making change in my personal life, knowing it will benefit the world because, after all, the personal is political.

I'm 44 and know several SK women who had illegal abortions, travelled to the US or out-of-province for the procedure and one, whose botched abortion, left her unable to conceive when she wanted to.
