Turkey: terror bombs and too much triangulating
« on: August 29, 2006, 06:22:12 AM »
The Guardian report on the three bombs that went off in tourist areas of Turkey yesterday and Sunday night.

There is deeper background to the complicated political games being played in Kurdistan, which lies at the intersection of Turkey, Iraq, and Iran, in this report from the Christian Science Monitor, which I found through Juan Cole. He links also to the latest report from the G&M, which is also a helpful clarification of the politics involved.

My friends just back from China have friends in Turkey right now. The tourists are terrified and have rushed back to their hotels. Turkey is falling. What started out as protest re a park has turned into a protest re bombs? on border town with syria.

But our leaders like fascists.
I mean if Dictators must go (Assad) then why not dictators in Saudi Arabia/Qatar and Bahrain?

Erdogan is calling in the army. He still thinks it's about the park so of course that's what the world is talking about, what a sham.
