Ninjas > Pirates.

It's a scientific fact. So we ought to be celebrating "Don't talk, because that'd would give away your hiding place, and instead sneak quietly like a ninja" day.

Heck, robots > pirates as well, so why not "Talk Like a Robot Day"?

Do I think Talk Like a Robot Day is a good idea?

Affirm-itive.

Is this guy a pirate? Or just Napoleon (in which case I should save him for threads about Conrad Black)?

Oooo I couldn't resist this bit.

Quote
Keith Richards, who inspired Johnny Depp's Captain Jack Sparrow, is filming for his role in the next Pirates of the Caribbean film.

The Rolling Stones star, whom Depp has credited for his portrayal of the legendary pirate, is making a cameo appearance in Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End, due for release next May.

Fellow Stone Ronnie Wood revealed he was "hard at work on the set with Johnny Depp." The guitarist continued: "He said he's gonna come to the next rehearsal in character - he's gonna come straight off set dressed as a pirate, and come to rehearsals.

"He said to me: 'I'm not allowed to shave from now on, so they're gonna tie little bits on my beard. Whatever bits grow, they're gonna dangle bits off of it, and the longer it gets, the more they're gonna tie on'," explained Wood. "He promised to take a Polaroid as I'm dying to see it!"

That of course is Ronnie Wood paraphrasing  Keith Richards. Har!

Ahoy Mateys and geeks.

That old Finnish sea dog Linus Torvalds has gotten in on the act too.

Quote
Linux creator Linus Torvalds today signalled his enjoyment of the annual "Talk Like a Pirate Day" festivities, using the nautical lexicon to launch an update to the kernel at the heart of his open source operating system.

"Ahoy! She's good to go, hoist anchor!" wrote Torvalds in a public e-mail today announcing version 2.6.18 of the Linux kernel. "Here's some real booty for all you land-lubbers," he continued.

"There's not too many changes, with t'bulk of the patch bein' defconfig updates, but the shortlog at the aft of this here e-mail describes the details if you care, you scurvy dogs."
