Yo Fern Hil:

(I may be rude here, jumping into a directed post to skdadl) - But thank you anyway.   .

Whenever PBS grovels for money they put on some super specials ...

(Showing my age here) They have had The Kingston Trio:

let me tell ya of the story of a man named Charlie.. :toast

Peter Paul and Mary:

I dig rock and roll music and I really like the way they play (and sing it) :working

and to top it all off ..... The Weavers .. before Lee Hayes died:

I've sung you a song and I'll sing it again ... :Garden1

I shall immediately go into a blog stop mode and crank up my dust covered cathode tube.   :smash:

fern hill, the problem is: this strange Bell system I have won't give me Mike and Goldie -- I think I get Rochester PBS rather than Buffalo, so I'll have to  learn a whole new character.   :?

Are Mike and Goldie still going?

I haven't seen Goldie for quite a while. I'll pay more attention.

Peter, Paul, and Mary. I have a friend who has been pals with Mary Travers for ages. My friend told me this story. She had had some kind of shitty day and called Mary to bitch. Mary was in a hurry, on her way out, and replied: 'You think you're having a bad day? I'm off to sing 'Puff the Magic Fucking Dragon' for the nine-millionth time.' And hung up.

I found this on the history of the song.

I assume they were singing the bowdlerized version, can't be singing about no radical reds now can we.
