Yecch.

Far more elegant (and not as cloying,  fat or sticky) is Italian ricotta-based cheesecake.

oh.my.god.  this IT contractor we hired last year just dropped off a wicker basket so big it might be a hamper (puff, huff, puff) full of choclate, brie, crackers and more choclate! this is not going to end well.

Well, I was going to be all good, and heat up some liver and onions, served with steamed rainbow chard, and chased by a cup of tea for dipping the delicious ginger cookies we picked up at the market last weekend.

But now all I want is cheesecake.  And cheese.  Oh, how I miss stinky cheese.  Can you make a cheesecake out of blue cheese?  Is it still unsafe for me to eat?  :(  Probably.

Ok, liver and onions and greens it is.

But now I'm pouting.  I hate you all.  you and your cheesecake and chocolate and cheese and chocolate flavoured cheese.  I hate pregnancy hormones too.

I don't understand, do you have an allergic reaction to blue cheese?

You could make a kind of cheesecake with blue cheese (and something less pungent, such as ricotta) but it would be a savoury cheesecake, more like a flan or savoury tart.

There is a recipe for roquefort tart in a book I have on quiches and savoury pies. Such rich morsels are usually better made as little tartlets for party food and starters.

No allergies.  It's on the list of foods to avoid while pregnant.

While I take most pregnancy advice with a large mine full of salt, this one keeps popping up all over the place (soft/raw/veined cheese may contain listeria) and is one of the few I can't logic away.  Especially since I don't know any cheese-makers and thus can't verify the cleanliness of the process or the health of the cattle.  I still eat rare steak and runny eggs, but I have more knoweldge/trust of where they come from.

But please excuse me.  I'm having one of those days, trying to get things finished up before taking off on a much desired vacation, and I'm a bit cranky.  I don't hate you all.  I just miss good cheese.

Seriously -- food porn is probably the only kind where size actually isn't important.

It's not my photo.  I don't know how you can scale using PhpBB tags.  I could do it if it were HTML.

Thank you for resizing the cheesecake.  However, I disagree with 'lance about the size issue, with regard to food porn.  When I looked at that brimming-over-the-monitor-with-velvety-luscious-creamy-chocolatey object of my desire, I could feel my hips and love handles spreading wider and wider to accomodate the humongous whack of calories.  Such vicarious pleasures ...

Well.  Clearly, someone's thrown down the gastroporn gauntlet.

Bonesy, you got any more of them humungous cheeses?

Something is tickling my memory synapses .... was it your father or my mother who were negotiating your dowry in cheese futures?  :?

Ooh. This is getting, ah, exciting.

And all I've got for breakfast is Weetabix. Pout.
