Fundraising for New Server
« on: July 04, 2006, 09:32:46 AM »
I see you still have money in your account

I've been searching around for a cheaper server which also allows for tons of bandwidth.

Found one, none other than the same which hosts En Masse.

Net Firms.

For 257.76 a year we can get 1500 gb of bandwidth per month

or for 164.72 we can get 750 gb per month.

Either of these amounts are about half of what we are paying now for 25gb transfer.

I'd prefer the first so that we have less moving around to do. In any case Net Firms does seem to have better uptime, they apparently have 24/7 support and the interface looks fairly friendly.

I'm hoping I can get Steve to coach me on the move.

So this is an official fundraising drive to help us move to our new home.

What do you get in return?

    No bandwidth worries
    Space to stretch out
    That new home feeling
    Faster problem resolution times
    Lighter pockets
Only once a year requests for money

There are two ways to donate, through paypal button or PM me for my address if you would rather not use paypal.

NO donation is too small!!   Thanks! :flowers

And thanks to those who have already donated to this space.  :hug

Debra, I will be hitting the Paypal button just as soon as I can talk to the people who send out new cards at my charge-card place. My current card is up, as of Saturday, and they haven't sent me a new one to be activated. Paypal just wrote to tell me this, the only non-phish I have ever had from a Paypal e-address.

So I'll leap in in the next couple of days, ok? I'm happy to contribute. :)

most donations are being mailed so I'll have to see after they get here. I think it is promising though

If you come up short, just say the word and I'll chip in a bit more.

We have just over $80 in the kitty. I am expecting about 5 donations by mail.

I only know the amount of one. When that one arrives we will have $130

I will need to pay this host at least $40 and hope they don't add more charges for quiting. So that takes us back to $90.

So we need a difference of $74.72 or $167.76 depending on package.

Do we need it by a particular date? Or will we upgrade when we get it?

I'd perfer to be able to move before this month is out so we can spend the money wisely.

I'm confident we can achieve this even if it means going for the 750 gb package which is still considerably better than the 25gb we have now.

Debra, I'm so sorry I can't help. I know you don't expect everybody to chip in, and it is whatever one can afford, but I am sorry nonetheless.

Have you thought about asking if the current host wants the opportunity to become competitive?  They may need to revise their pricing to meet what the market will now bear...
