Company called Close Protection UK won the contracts for the Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics, to hire staff as unpaid stewards. This is total exploitation, I don't think it could be legal. Where is the fucking world condemnation? The women had to change into the clothes 'provided' outside, while the men changed under the bridge where they all had to sleep. Health & Safety and humiliation Issues, why aren't the unions screaming. Fucking Close Protection says it is a 'trial run' for the 'paid' work they'll get at the Olympics. Words can barely express my utter contempt for this slave labour scheme, when you read it, you'll end up feeling pissed/furious. And fucking Harper is there, prolly trying to figure out how he can bring such barbaric practises to Canada. The entire western world is turning into an abomination! Prepare to be shocked and the ruling class will wonder why the people have turned on them. REVOLUTION? They're asking for it.

Oh cripes, he sounds like Harper. One element is true in all this reactionary morass - there is a rift between people on some kind of benefits (EI, welfarce, comp etc) and low-wage + precarious workers. A rift deliberately contsructed by those who are truly "entitled".

Some wags here are wondering why not share embassies with France... You can well imagine how this is flying in Québec, even among the least-Québécois-sovereignist-inclined members of the NDP Québec deputation, such as Hélene Laverdière.

If we can share embassy space with Great Britain because we are in the Commonwealth, then as members of the Francophonie, we should share embassy space with France as well. Doesn't Quebec already have a cultural attache at the Canadian embassy in Paris?
 
ETA: A friend in another forum pointed out we already share embassy space with Australia.

Indeed I can imagine how it is going over in Quebec. But this IS fishy and I wonder if the States being totally bankrupt as a nation and whose foreign policy may be behind it. Obviously with all the British symbology we've been overloaded with suggests it's been a long time planned. As for the cost savings, I bet it is peanuts compared to buying F-35's.

This outrage was a hot topic in my house during the Troubles but the validation of what we suspected has come far too late.

David Cameron has said he is 'deeply sorry' for the extent of state collusion in the 1989 murder of Belfast solicitor Pat Finucane.
Speaking in the Commons following the publication of the independent De Silva review, the Prime Minister said the report identified five key areas of collusion and revealed British agents had “actively furthered and facilitated the murder”.
Mr Cameron said: “It is really shocking this happened in our country…Collusion demonstrated beyond any doubt by Sir Desmond, which included the involvement of state agencies in murder, is totally unacceptable.”

It occurs now to the densest why the Brits are so obsessed with spying. A soldier in civy clothing was almost beheaded in the streets. The Brits now say it was a terrist attack and rightly so considering the things that were said.

I'm kinda shocked only 24,000 have signed a petition against. Wanna bet this is something the reformatories would bring in. And I sure as hell hope there would be more than 24,000 sigs on a petition. A bill like that is wide open to abuse. For eg. it can make a criminal out of you - Non-exempt individuals who do not serve one year of national service before the age of 26 years shall be guilty of an offence. ]
