Here is a list of common houseplants that actually clean the indoor air. The page (with pop-ups) is in French, but the latin names (and common names in French and in English) are indicated, or you could search back to Dr William Wolverton's research on the subject.

Most of them are quite banal houseplants you will find in any garden centre, florist's or even places like Canadian Tire and Home Depot (though of course be careful of quality there).
