The I-lost-my-temper-today challenge
« on: May 31, 2008, 06:02:03 PM »
Ok, here's how this works.

We're not talking the small stuff here; we're talking the kind of temper-losing that we all feel bad about the next morning. We're talking I-went-so-far-over-the-unwarranted-top-that-it-wasn't-funny temper, or we're talking I-ignored-someone-else's-more-vulnerable-feelings temper, or stuff like that.

I figure that acknowledging that kind of temper might actually be kind of mutually supportive here, given our well-known collective tendency to feminazidom.    Actually, I think it would be mutually supportive because everybody here is so damn nice most of the time, so having fits of temper really bothers and hurts most of us.

I propose that each time one of us feels that s/he has indulged a fit of temper that went too far over the top or ignored someone else's feelings, s/he should come here at the end of the day and pledge a loonie to the upkeep of this site. Whenever any pledge reaches the ten-loonie mark, the suspect should send off a cheque to Fearless Leader.

I shall begin. After a couple of performances I just delivered, I owe $1.

Hey, if it was a couple of performances, shouldn't you owe a two-nee?  A doubloonie, so to speak...

I have been reining in my own ire for a while.  Trying hard not to blow.  I fear for the world if I do.  Or at least the Western hemisphere.

My grandfeyther Jock Cameron told me the Cameron's were all known for their fierce tempers and it's why we have an extra tartan, the "phantom Cameron".  He said we wore that one when we went out to steal sheep and slit throats.

I dunno -- I think that just one loonie per day is fair, given that fits of temper are likely to last over more than one thread, or across sites.

I have been good today. I haven't run up my account ... yet.

This thread has drifted completely from the original intent and has nothing to do with fundraising. I am moving the posts starting from the drift to a new thread.
