China and free trade
« on: December 15, 2009, 11:44:45 AM »
I had always known that free trade was largely a strategy to roll back the successes of labour in the Western world, but the economists' counter-argument is that it lifts workers in poor countries out of poverty.  Here's a blog post on why it may not be so good for China either---that after enriching a small amount of Chinese labour, it freezes the rest out of class mobility:

I didn't know where else to put this. WE must rally around this man and his family. The U.S. is not being truthful. I will put a curse on Clinton if she doesn't do the right thing. i DON'T BELIEVE A WORD FROM THE U.S. RIGHT NOW.

Isn't Harper great, doing business with these pigs.

In a tragic coda to the 23rd anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre, a veteran activist was found hanged in a hospital room Wednesday morning.
