Antonia tweeted this link earlier today, and she and they are right -- it is an overwhelming it-gets-better statement. Have kleenex handy.

Bullied gay son of Ottawa city councillor commits suicide: http://www.thestar.com/news/article/1071633

This story is just so terribly sad. Jamie was only 15, and trying to take action to fight such bigotry.

I see our friend Montreal Simon has already posted on this sad story:

Jamie's story and Rick Mercer's anti-bullying appeal, coming up at the current at 8:30 (Eastern time, but imagine it will be at 8:30 when it is that time in more westerly time zones). Means it is tue late for Atlantic Time people, but I think it can be heard afterwards over the computer at cbc.ca ?

Yes, and Mercer's bit is on YouTube
It is when we all play safe that we create a world of utmost insecurity. It is when we all play safe that fatality will lead us to our doom. It is in the "dark shade of courage" alone that the spell can be broken.
