That is horrible. She is 8 1/2 months pregnant - could easily give birth a couple of weeks early; what the hell would the cops do. It was so calm, pleasant and creative here, though of course there were a lot of cops when the Idle march got under way, after the National Aboriginal Day ceremony.

Lagatta rather proud as a young 2nd cousin was one of the two spokeswomen at the beginning of the Idle event! I'm sure she already knows of the police violence in Mik'maq country, but I'll send the story around anyway.

We had giant marionnettes made by young urban Aboriginals, dancers and drummers from Kahnawake, honour song and poetry by Jacques Newashish, an Atikamekw artist (poet, visual artist, musician). The smal Atikamekw nation is in Mauricie (La Tuque and area, north of Trois-Rivières).
