OK, done.  If there's a shortfall at the end of the Board-a-thon I'll see if I can scrape up a bit more.

Fans and members will be glad to hear that BNR's fearless leader, Debra, had a polite but firm conversation with the hosts yesterday, and as Boom Boom's message reports, they are determined to keep us in good shape.

Debra is also looking into local sources for a compy now. I think we are still falling a little short of our target; perhaps she will let us know precisely how far short in the next day or so. Meanwhile, if you haven't yet pressed that button or found that stamp, please take this break in our programming as an opportunity to express your support for quality moderation-free moderation.

I'm still catching up at the library. How's the drifting?   Can't wait to get back and add to it.

The question that's on everyone's lips, Goldie fern, and yes, we have just had good news from the boss. Allowing some time for some money transfers to be completed and for the acquisition, Debra should be back with us at the beginning of next week.

There is still a shortfall of about $200, which Debra will cover herself, although we'd ask fans and members to recall that we're always going to need a bit of an account for the site itself as well.

So if you haven't had a chance to press that button or find that stamp, believe me, it is never too late to support great open discussion and just general silliness.

In just a few minutes, we'll be taking you to WBNR's own exclusive episode of "The Naked Chef." (Psst -- Herr Magoo: you ready yet?)

But I think that Goldie fern has a few words for you first. Goldie fern?

It's on my list of things to do just as soon as I can. Please send me a snail mail address via PM when you have a chance.

Hello, all WBNR fans. This is Goldie fern, hoping you all enjoyed that interruption-free -- well except for the server glitches -- span of moderation-free moderation. I know it seems like only a little while since we asked you to show your commitment to the fine programming at WBNR. For now, what we're asking is for you to send your pledge by PM to Debra of what you can afford to continue your support.

For some of us, a one-time gift is better, for others a monthly or quarterly gift works. So, please indicate how much a year you're willing to commit and whether one-time (and when), monthly, etc.

We need to guarantee about $65 a month.

We need to see if we can do this. Don't send money yet.

And, please, no one is to feel bad if she or he can't participate. Although, as before, expressions of support are very welcome.

Over to skdadl who is making up, er, describing thank-you gifts this time.

And why do you continue to ignore the folks listening to KBNR?

I feel slighted

KBNR. Of course, how silly of me.  Yes, the moola, er, support of our western fans is very, very important to us. As is that of our participants who receive our signal on the fine Canadian channel, CBNR.

Here is where Debra lays out the costs: http://www.breadnroses.ca/forums/viewtopic.php?p=16445#16445

on the Hosting Issues thread.

So, to clarify, this is for ongoing server expenses. $65 a month. We get commitments for that, then we won't need to hit you guyz up but once or twice a year, just to ensure the flow of dough.

See also Debra's thread on Advertising which is the impetus for this fundraiser. We really don't want Advertising, do we?

Advertising doesn't bother me at all - I just ignore most of it on the other board I'm on. If advertising can cover the costs in a consistent way, then where's the problem? :?
